Özgür Eylen is a distinguished figure in the hospitality industry, renowned for his extensive experience and transformative leadership. Born in Keulen, Germany, to Turkish parents, he moved to Ankara, Turkey, during his infancy. His early years were marked by a passion for basketball, leading to a professional career in the sport. However, a severe back injury abruptly ended his athletic pursuits, compelling him to seek alternative career paths. 

Transitioning into the hospitality sector, Eylen began as an entertainer at the Hapimag Hotel in Bodrum, Turkey. His dedication and aptitude facilitated rapid advancement, culminating in a managerial role overseeing the entertainment team. His career trajectory took a significant turn when he relocated to the Netherlands in 2005, motivated by personal commitments. Despite initial challenges, including language barriers and cultural adjustments, Eylen secured a position as Front Office Manager at a Van der Valk hotel. His tenure there was marked by a series of promotions, reflecting his commitment and leadership capabilities. 

Seeking broader horizons, Eylen joined the Ibis hotel chain, where he ascended to the role of General Manager. His leadership was instrumental in enhancing operational efficiencies and guest satisfaction. In 2018, he accepted the position of General Manager at Hotel Arena in Amsterdam. Under his stewardship, the hotel achieved significant growth, earning recognition as the fifth fastest-growing company in the Netherlands within a year. 

Eylen’s career is characterized by a commitment to innovation and community engagement. At Kanteen25, a restaurant in Amsterdam, he embraced a sustainable and locally sourced food philosophy. He also initiated programs to provide employment opportunities for refugees, reflecting his dedication to social responsibility. 

Beyond his managerial roles, Eylen co-authored “De kracht van hospitality” (“The Power of Hospitality”), a book that explores the integration of hospitality principles into organizational leadership. His insights emphasize the importance of attention, surprise, and genuine engagement in creating exceptional guest experiences. 

Eylen’s contributions extend to public speaking and education, where he shares his expertise on topics such as innovation, digitalization, and entrepreneurship. Under his leadership, Hotel Arena in Amsterdam received several accolades. In 2017, the hotel won the Entree Award for “Best Restyling,” acknowledging its successful renovation and design transformation. Additionally, in 2018, Hotel Arena was shortlisted for the ABB Leaf Awards in the “Best Hospitality Building” category, further recognizing its architectural excellence.
